There all the old people were present, all with one voice demanded independence. The British could not tolerate this. He went towards the garden to demonstrate his strength. Going there, it rained continuously for 15 minutes. High walls existed around this garden.

There was a small entrance to the entrance, at the same door that lowly Dyer got a machine gun installed. As long as there was a bullet, it kept going. There blood flowed. According to official news, 400 people were dead and about 2000 were injured.

It is heard from the Karna-tradition that this evil act was done by the Hindus by the lowly Dyer. The Hindu army was in front and the Gorkha army was behind it. In this firing, the despicable act was done that the dead and the injured were allowed to suffer overnight in the garden itself.

His ointment was not even given water to anyone to drink. There was a well nearby, in which many people jumped to save their lives. When the shooting ended, about fifty-two dead bodies came out of that well. In this way the name of this well came to be dead.

Assassin Dyer himself proudly said before the Hunter Commission that I fired at a large crowd for 15 minutes with smoke. I did not try to clear the crowd, I could have cleared the crowd without firing bullets, but people would laugh at me.

Total bullets were fired 1650. He continued to shoot till it was exhausted and at the same time admitted that no arrangement was made to raise and help the dead. Giving the reason for this, he said – at that time it was not my duty to help those injured.

This cruelty of Dyer was not only justified by Sir Michael O’Dwyer, the ruler of Punjab, but praised by telegram that your work was right. The lieutenant governor assists him.

After 1857, the biggest atrocity of the Ghori government was this shooting. After this tragic incident, barbaric and inhuman punishments were given to Indians. Amritsar’s water was cut off, power lines were cut. Indians were beaten up with whips on the open roads. Even by closing the third class ticket of the train, the movement of Indian passengers stopped.

Udham Singh ji’s father was also martyred in this garden along with everyone. To avenge this, he went to England. One day in a meeting there, he was giving a lowly Dyer speech. In the speech he was saying that I have perpetrated such atrocities in India.

In the meantime, Veer Udham Singh ji did his work by aiming his pistol. In this way, this hero took revenge for the atrocities committed on his father and India. In the end, Veer Udham Singh was hanged in the court for this crime. India will always be indebted to this immortal sacrifice of his.
